Glistening Bridge Over Jarring Context

Glistening Bridge Over Jarring Context

Glistening Bridge Over Jarring Context. Youth Centre 44, Kuopio, Finland. September 2006.
Commissioned by Anti Art festival and Streetsoul.

Video installation and performance.

Projection of the film of walls and windows, dances and music of a youth centre in East London installed inside a youth centre in East Finland. My costume becomes something you can project onto, and renders me suddenly invisible and, afterwards, awkward and reflective; not fitting in the cracks between these two geographical locations, acting as a messenger between the two. Searching for meaningful action in that void that can occur between multiple cultural experiences.

Thanks to Johanna Kaarina Rajamäki.

Tessa Wills is a live artist

and choreographer with a background in music. She is from England, trained in central Europe and now lives in San Francisco. Her work elevates flaws and wounds as portals, ways of staging humanity, and often integrates eroticism to charge the pieces, which happen primarily on stage and video. Aside from the relentless pull of desire, her current practice is inspired by Hermits and professional mourning.
